History of Woodinville, Washington

The area is now known as Woodinville; Washington was once home to the Duwamish Native-American Tribe. They had settled around Lake Sammamish in 1870 and used it for transportation until 1877 when they moved over to Newcastle Beach. White settlers bought the land until 1889, when William Woodin opened a land office to find families willing to settle there. The city was officially established in 1890, and it quickly grew into an agricultural hub for hops, dairy, apples, and berries.
